Eleanor Louise (Heintz) Calkins, age 96, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, where she lived with her daughter Judy Calkins, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Mrs. Calkins was born in the city of Batavia, N.Y. She was a former employee of Sylvania and the New York Telephone Company in Batavia, N.Y. Mrs. Calkins was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Batavia N.Y. where she worked for 28 years as a nursery worker with her daughter Kathleen. She and her husband, Charles, also were church custodians until his passing in 1987. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Calkins, who died on January 28, 1987 and her parents, Charles Noris and Edna Abigal Bradfeild Heintz.

Mrs. Calkins is survived by two sons, David and Ronald Calkins, both of Lawrenceburg, TN; six daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Barbara) Kittle of Gowanda NY, Judy Calkins of Lewisburg TN, Mrs. LaVern (Kathleen) Barber of Batavia, NY., Mrs. Dan (Nancy) Ryan of Batavia, NY, Mrs. Dennis (Linda) Salway of Lewisburg, TN, Mrs. Gerald (Donna) Harmon of Lewisburg, TN; sister Mrs. Jean Wicks of Conn.; nieces and nephews. She has 25 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren.

There will be two services; one at Lighthouse Independent Baptist Church, 504 West Church St. Lewisburg, TN on Sunday May 8, 2016 at 3:00 pm. She will then be transported to Batavia N.Y. where services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 3515 Galloway Rd. Batavia N.Y. Service time will be Saturday May 21, 2016 at 11:00 am. Burial, where she will be joined with her husband, will follow in Grandview Cemetery.

Mrs. Calkins requests no flowers. Her wishes were to place Bibles on the mission field. Each church will have a box up front for you to give toward the Bibles. One box of 24 bibles cost $60.00, give as you feel you can. Inside each individual bible will have, “ In Loving Memory of Charles and Eleanor Calkins” with dad's favorite verse, John 3:16 inscribed. Mrs. Calkins said flowers wither away but bibles will last, your money won't be going to waste.
