John Bradford

November 20, 1939 — January 15, 2017

John Marvin Bradford, age 77, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Franklin, Tennessee. He was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee and was a son of the late Clyde Astor and Marie Shelton Bradford. Mr. Bradford was a retired minister, having served both on the Promise Charge in Marshall County and the Prospect Charge in Giles County of the United Methodist Church. He also was a former Principal and Coach at Belfast School, Belfast, TN and taught, for several years, at Forrest School in Chapel Hill. Later, Mr. Bradford opened Bradford Realty and Auction in Chapel Hill where he was both a real estate agent and auctioneer. He was a member of Chapel Hill Masonic Lodge #160, and was a former assistant Worthy Patron of the Chapel Hill Eastern Star. Mr. Bradford also served twelve years as a County Commissioner for Marshall County.

Mr. Bradford is survived by his wife, Brenda Shields Bradford, Chapel Hill, TN; daughters, Angela (Ken) Lamb and Delia Jill Bradford Stegall, both of Chapel Hill, TN; sister, Janice Bolles, Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Michael Lamb, Patrick (Elizabeth) Lamb, Kristen Stegall (Jessie) Corbin, John Stegall, Brooks Lamb; great grandchildren, Kingston Stegall, Kaisen Armstrong, Braxton Stegall, Madilynn Lamb, Sadie Lamb, Marley Corbin, Hardin Lamb. Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jackson Lamb.

Family members will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Lamb and Rev. Jimmy Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Ken Lamb, Patrick Lamb, Brooks Lamb, John Stegall, Ellis Rader, Brad Bolles, Scotty Stegall, Jessie Corbin, Bobby Paul and Dottie Morton will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made to Forrest Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Jimmie Lou Lee, 103 Crosby Drive, Hendersonville, TN, 37075 in memory of John Bradford.
