Pastor Earl Pitts, Jr., age 77, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Monday, July 6, 2015 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Pastor Earl was born in Lincoln County and was a son of the late Johnnie Mae Smith Pitts and Earl Pitts, Sr. He was a farmer and butcher and served 29 years as Pastor of Little Hurricane Primitive Baptist Church in Manchester, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Earl Pitts, III, and a brother, John Lewis Pitts.

Pastor Pitts is survived by his wife, Thelma Pitts, Chapel Hill, TN; children, Lisa McLean, Lewisburg, TN, Regina Claybrooks, Lewisburg, TN, Kevin Armstrong, Lewisburg, TN, Bobbye Mayes, Chapel Hill, TN, Phyllis Simpson, Petersburg, TN, Gloria Williams, Murfreesboro, TN, Brenda Mason, Fayetteville, TN; brothers, James Pitts, Louisville, KY, William E. Pitts, Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Mary Frances Shelton, Louisville, KY, Bertha Lee Walton, LaVergne, TN, Annie Lou Ella Scott, San Antonio, TX, Irene McDonald, Murfreesboro, TN; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Pastor Leander Blackman, Pastor David Gardner, Pastor James McCarroll, Pastor William Herbert Johnson and Deacon Larry Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Egypt Cemetery near Chapel Hill. .
