Mrs. Jane Pate, age 77, of Chapel Hill, TN, died on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.Born in Andalusia, Alabama, she and her husband came to Nashville to pursue their dream of writing country music songs.They never made millions but both were recipients of a gold album for the song they wrote “It Don’t Hurt to Dream” sung by Ronnie Milsap on his album “It was Almost Like a Song”.Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Dan Pate, her parents Odus and Myrtle Martin, brothers, Travis and Robert Martin, sisters, Jean Cook and Mary Patterson.She leaves behind her daughter, Dana Caldwell, son Cash Pate, grandsons Justin (Blair) and Joey (Kelsey) Caldwell, great grandsons, Gage and Aiden Caldwell, and great granddaughter, Carly Marie Caldwell, sisters, Rita Curenton of Fairhope, AL, Becky Tomlin of Spanish Fort, AL, Sara Tompkins of Enterprise, AL, and Ann Johnson of Andalusia, AL, sister in law, Dori Duvall of Sierra Vista, AZ and brother in law, Gary Pate of Grand Bay, AL. She was greatly loved by ALL who knew her including her customers at Rex’s Foodland in Chapel Hill, TN. She had such a sweet and humble spirit.Jane loved old country music, watching Alabama football, cooking for her family and sitting on the front porch watching the birds feeding in her big oak tree.Her favorite time of year was in the Spring when the hummingbirds arrived.

There will be no services. She asked to be cremated and her ashes laid to rest in the wooden urn with her husband.
