John Fant

John Eldon Fant passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Nashville, TN, at the age of 88. John was a native of Nashville, TN, and a son of the late Eldon Jewel and Eulalia Ann Puckett Fant. John was a member of the Bellevue Church of Christ and was a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He was a retired electrical engineer, having worked for several contractors in the Nashville area. John proudly served our country as a naval aviator in the United States Marine Corps.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth Daughrity Fant of Nashville, TN; children John Bradford (Lori) Fant, Lynne Marie Fant, and Steven Andrew Fant, all of Nashville, TN; sister, Carole Willis of Nashville, TN; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by seven brothers- in-law, their spouses, one sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.  John loved to spend vacations in Daytona Beach, Florida with his family. He and Mary later traveled extensively within the United States and abroad. John was kind and generous, and he will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on October 5, 2019 at Chapel Hill Church of Christ, 4483 Nashville Highway, Chapel Hill, TN 37034. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
