John Richard Hill, Jr.

Mr. John Richard Hill, Jr., age 66, of the Farmington Community of Marshall County, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mr. Hill was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and was a graduate of Marshall County High School Class of 1970. He was a self – employed heavy equipment mechanic and life long farmer. Mr. Hill was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill where he served as a deacon, assistant Sunday school teacher for the Adult Four Sunday School Class and a choir member. Richard was also served as a former Marshall County Commissioner. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Chardene Thompson Hill, who died in 2008.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra Mealer Hill, Farmington, Comm.; children, Bryan (Robin) Hill, Lewisburg, TN, Emily (Travis) Darnell, Lewisburg, TN; father, John R. Hill, Sr., Farmington Comm.; sister, Martha (Phillip) Ferguson, Union, KY; brothers, Thomas R. Hill, Belfast, TN, Charles (Patty) Hill, Farmington Comm.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Family members will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McGehee and Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Daniel Hill, Travis Darnell, Justin Haynie, Sam Ferguson, Randy Clark and Benny Clark will serve as active pallbearers. Members of the Adult Four Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Smyrna Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
