Obituary

Mrs. Alice Murray Freeman, age 86, of Rockvale, TN passed away Friday June 19, 2026 in Murfreesboro, TN. Alice was born November 5, 1939 to William Murray and Mary Ophelia Petty Roll. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gene Freeman, and a son, Eddie Freeman, a daughter in law, Debbie Freeman, and brothers, Billy Roy Murray and Johnny Lee Murray.

Alice was a kind, caring, and compassionate friend to many. Alice was always willing to help others however she was able to. In her early years of work, she began her career in Emma’s Florist on West End in Nashville where her passion in the floral industry grew. She later retired from Eagleville Florist and truly loved growing flowers. One of her greatest joys in life was the day she met her late husband. You could always find the two of them together and spending time with their children. She was an accomplished artist as well as a pianist for her beloved Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she has been a member for over 50 years. In the last several years, she enjoyed playing games and cards often with Alice Faye Ralston and Linda Simpson. Her most special moments came from spending time with her sons, Ron and Don. She enjoyed listening to them play music and putting a smile on her face. Her love and care will be missed for many generations to come.

Alice is survived by her sons, Ron and Don Freeman of Shelbyville, TN; a niece, Faye Lynn Coffey (Johnny Walker) of Tullahoma, TN; and a great nephew, Bryce (Lauren) Murray Coffey of Chattanooga, TN; and a lifelong friend for over 50 years Alice Faye Ralston.

Visitation with the Freeman Family will be Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2PM until 4PM. A Funeral Service will take place at 4PM from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in Cothran Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to each care giver that devoted their time and love to Mrs. Alice.
