Annie Ruth Armstrong McCord Mayes

Mrs. Annie Ruth Armstrong McCord Mayes, age 91, of Chapel Hill, TN passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in Nashville, TN. She was born in Pulaski, TN to the late Joe Armstrong, Jr. and Elizabeth Henry Armstrong.  Mrs. Mayes was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker after retiring from Faber Castell Corporation after many years of service.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1^st husband, Donald McCord, Sr., and her 2^nd husband, Willie Wilson Mayes, Sr., and a daughter, Shellie A. McCord. 

Mrs. Annie Ruth loved cooking for her family.  She truly enjoyed fellowship with her friends and family.  She loved the holidays when her family would come home to celebrate!  She enjoyed listening to gospel music and going fishing.  She loved going to church to worship and was very proud of her family, a Proud Mama!

Mrs. Mayes is survived by her children, Donald (Annette) McCord of Chapel Hill, TN, Betty (Willie) Haislip of Chapel Hill, TN, Delois Snipes of Bell Buckle, TN, Samuel L. McCord, Sr. of Shelbyville, TN, James McCord of Chapel Hill, TN, Katie Miller of Columbia, TN, Willie A. (Verdean) McCord of Columbus, MS, Thomas (Sarah) McCord of Shelbyville, TN, Carolyn M. McCord of Chapel Hill, TN, Brenda (Porter) Castleman of Christiana, TN, Jerry (Shewanda) McCord of Tullahoma, TN; stepchildren, Catherine Russell, Emma Moore, Wanda Mayes, Martha Mayes, John Mayes, Barry Mayes, Marvin Mayes, Donald Mayes, all of Lewisburg, TN, Andy Perkins of Nashville, TN, Roderick Tears of Lewisburg, TN; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren; and devoted friend, Kristin Ghee.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 10 AM until 12 Noon.  The funeral service will be conducted at 12 Noon on Friday, June 7, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Willie McCord and Bishop Terry Haynes officiating.  Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, TN. 

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters will serve as flower girls.
