Argie Simmons

Mrs. Argie Simmons, age 77, of the Laws Hill Community of Marshall County, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mrs. Simmons was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late Charlie Thomas and Purnie Ashby Sumners. In addition to her parents, Argie was also preceded in death by her husband, Don Simmons, who died in 2018; a sister, Essie Mills; and brothers, John A. Sumners, Sr., Charles Sumners, Jimmy Sumners, and William T. Sumners. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her son, Duane Simmons, Laws Hill Comm.; daughter, Melissa Ray, Shelbyville, TN; honorary sister, Betty Jo Batten, Laws Hill Comm.; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:00 am at Hopper Cemetery in the Laws Hill Community with Bill Preston officiating. Burial will immediately follow.

Jonathan Thornberry, Fletcher Thornberry, Mike Thompsan, Randy Frost, Gary Gearhart, Jr., Chris Rodriguez, Wyatt Simmons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Ray, Justin Ray, James Ray.

In light of the present health crisis, everyone attending graveside services for Mrs. Simmons are asked to please wear a mask.
