Bell Marie Cook

Mrs. Bell “Marie” Cook, age 83, of Chapel Hill, TN passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Born in Rutherford Co., Marie was a daughter of the late Willie Ray Bowman and Daisy Ruth Bowman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John R. Cook who passed away March 22, 2026.

Marie worked at the former Cee Bee Grocery, Moorehead Grocery and Rex’s Foodland for 25+ years. She retired and took care of her precious grandchildren. In her early years, she was a seamstress for the public. She enjoyed sewing curtains, clothing, and anything else that needed sewing. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church. In later years, she was the pianist at Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church. After her retirement she started Marie’s Embroidery for several years.

Survived by her two children, Scarlett (Phillip) Copeland of Chapel Hill, TN and Paige (Philip) Calahan of Manchester, TN; 3 sisters, Deanie (Jimmy) Smiley of Murfreesboro, TN, Linda Petersen of Lewisburg, TN, and Darlene (David) Covington of Dover,TN; 3 brothers, Walter (Mildred) Bowman of Lewisburg, TN, Allen Bowman of Murfreesboro, TN, and Thomas Bowman of Eagleville, TN; 4 grandchildren, Charley Copeland, Taylor Copeland, Caitlin (Noah) Jones and Annmarie Calahan; many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be at 1PM, Saturday, June 20, 2026 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Guinn officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM – 1PM at Lawrence Funeral Home prior to the Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill TN
