Betty Lou Haynes Woods

Mrs. Betty Lou Haynes Woods, age 84, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Saturday morning, October 24, 2026 at her home in Chapel Hill. She was a daughter of the late Peril Clyde and Zelma Lee Perryman Haynes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Woods was also preceded in death by sisters, Bessie Roberts, Beulah Russell, and brothers, Landon Haynes, Jimmy Haynes and David Haynes.

Mrs. Woods was a faithful member of Riggs Church of Christ in the Holts Corner Community of Marshall County, and was an active member, with her church family, of the Dorcas Workers at Riggs. She, also, was an active member of the Chapel Hill Senior Citizens. Mrs. Betty enjoyed the many hours of playing cards with her card friends and traveling with family and friends.

Mrs. Woods is survived by her children, Daniel “Rex” (Cathy) Bowman, Chapel Hill, TN, Clint (Cheryl) Bowman, Chapel Hill, TN, Trevia (Tony) Doss, Rockvale, TN; sisters, Ruth Burris, Rover Community of Bedford County, Mary Leverette, Unionville, TN; brother, Johnny Haynes, Marietta, GA; ten grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family members will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 starting at 4:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. A private family service will be conducted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in memory of Betty Lou Woods, may be made to either Shriners Hospital for Children, Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
