Billy Vance Batte

Mr. Billy Vance Batte, age 84, of Chapel Hill, TN, died on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at his residence.  Mr. Batte was a native of Marshall County, TN and a son of the late Samuel Guy Batte and Lula Sheppard Woodard.  He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and was retired from Walker Die Casting Company as a supervisor in the tool and die department.  Mr. Batte proudly served our country in the United States Army.  He served in the Chapel Hill Lions Club and as an Alderman for the Town of Chapel Hill, TN for 15 years.  Mr. Billy was a graduate of the Forrest High School Class of 1957.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Batte and Sammy Batte.

Mr. Billy loved golfing and all sports and served as a coach.  He loved mowing his yard.  He was the family professional “chef” and loved cooking for everyone.  His greatest joy was his family and especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Batte is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan Glenn Batte of Chapel Hill, TN; children, Tracy (Michelle) Batte of the Clay Hill Community, Mindy (Bobby) Boyce of College Grove, TN, David (Julia) Batte of Chapel Hill, TN; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Hargrove, Kayla Deckert, Cotey Batte, Corey Batte, Holly Batte, Nathan Batte; 7 great grandchildren, Gage Hargrove, Aubree Batte, Anderson Deckert, Lucille Batte, Everly Batte, Weston Hargrove, Maya Batte; sisters, Joan Robertson of Chapel Hill, TN and Judy Siniard of Alabama.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. James Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.

Brandon Hargrove, Nathan Batte, Corey Batte, Cotey Batte, Gage Hargrove, Tad Hargrove, and Sean Deckert will serve as pallbearers.
