Mrs. Brownie B. Griffin Leverette, age 84, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Brownie was born in Chapel Hill and was a daughter of the late Charlie and Agnes C. Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by twin brother and sister, Luther Ray and Lula May Griffin; half-sisters, Willie Adgent Skinner and Rosa Adgent Laws; best friend, Margaret Marlin.
Mrs. Leverette retired after 30 years of service from Henry Horton State Park where she was the assistant manager of the Park restaurant. Following her retirement, along with her friend Margaret, they opened and were co-owners of the Country Diner Restaurant in Chapel Hill. Brownie attended Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill and was an active member of the Adult 4 Sunday School Class and the Single Sisters Ladies Group. She also loved attending the Wednesday Bingo group at the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Leverette is survived by her children, Charles F. “Red Bird” Leverette, Chapel Hill, TN, Malinda Leverette (Randy) Watkins, Culleoka, TN; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Family members will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Visitation will also be on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. with funeral services being conducted at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Nored, Rev. Mark Smith and Joe Coble officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
