Charles Farris “Red Bird” Leverette, age 66, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Nashville Center for Rehabilitation and Healing after battling Crohn’s Disease.
Charles was born on February 23, 1959 to the late Dorris Wesley “Red” Leverette and Brownie Bell Griffin Leverette. He was a 1977 graduate of Forrest School in Chapel Hill. He attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN. Charles worked for the city of Lewisburg Sanitation Department and as a Security Guard with General Motors affiliated companies in Spring Hill, TN. He also furthered his education at Tennessee Vocational Technology Center and obtained certification in Auto Body Repair and ran a successful body repair business for some time.
He was a former avid trapper, hunter and fisherman. Charles was a proud Amateur/Ham Operator and CB enthusiast and had many friends on the airwaves. He was Christian and was a former host of a Bible Study program on the WJJM Radio Station. He could play many musical instruments by ear and was an accomplished guitarist. Many said his voice would rival a professional singer. He was known to break out singing a gospel song at any moment and anywhere. Charles was well liked by everyone and is now reunited with his precious mother in Heaven. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Elroy and Cordelia Carlton Leverette land Charles Emmett and Agnes Chumbley Griffin.
Survived by his sister, Malinda Leverette (Randy) Watkins; nieces, Brittany McCullar and Kelsey Ervin; nephew, Caiman Watkins; great niece, Charlie Ervin and great-nephew Sawyer Vanhook.
Visitation will be Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10 AM – 1:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will be at Elliott Cemetery.
