Claudia Kathryn Alston Snell, 81, of Shelbyville, TN, passed from this world on September 17, 2023, in her home while under the loving care and comfort of her family and Hospice Compassus.

The second daughter of Claude and Lorraine Alston, she was born in Alexandria, LA on August 15, 1942.

Claudia is survived by her children Kathy Snell of Shelbyville, Joe F. (Jennifer) Snell Jr. of Unionville and Raine (Casey) Baird of Chapel Hill, brothers Doug (Glenda) Alston of Fishville, LA and Johnny (Shelley) Alston of Pineville, LA. Three grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Thole, Chris (Dakota) Gentry and Austin Snell, three great-grandsons Bryson and Dylan Thole, Levi Gentry and a great-granddaughter Chloe Lorraine Thole. Claudia had a never-ending list of close friends and extended family who will also miss her dearly.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, husband of 57 years, Joe Frank Snell Sr. and sister Barbara Earlene Black.

Claudia graduated from Pollock High School in 1960. Not long after graduation, she married the love of her life in September 1963. After a little traveling, they settled down in Unionville, TN to raise their family. Claudia never knew a stranger and made life-long friends everywhere she went. She was a homemaker, Girl Scout leader and a cheerleader to her children and grandchildren, often reminding them to have faith, try their best and to have fun with everything they do in life.

Funeral service for Claudia will be Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, TN. Visitation is to start at 11:00 am with the service at 2:00 pm. Per her wishes, she will be cremated.
