Eugene Lester Griffy

Mr. Eugene Lester Griffy, age 83, of Smyrna, TN, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. Born in Williamson County, TN, Mr. Griffy was a son of the late Garrett Griffy and Louise Irene Gordon Griffy.  Mr. Griffy was retired from Krispy Kreme as a retail sales representative. He also was a graduate of Forrest High School where he played football as a Forrest Rocket. He was a member of Florence Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffy was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Lane Atkinson Griffy; a sister, Mary Ophelia Reed and a step-daughter, Cindy Avant.

Survived by 2 sons, Robert “Bob” David Griffy and Darin Lester Griffy, both of Murfreesboro, TN; 2 brothers, David and Harry Griffy, both of Chapel Hill, TN; 4 grandchildren, Olivia Thomas, Caleb Griffy, Dustin "Dusty" Morrison and Heather Johnson; 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hadleigh Thomas.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 at 11 am from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 am – 11 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.
