Joe Max Cook age 76, of Chapel Hill, TN, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at home surrounded by family. Max was born January 20, 1950 to John William “JW” Cook and Henrietta Gipson Cook. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Cook.

Max was a caring individual. He was always calling and checking on his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. He loved seeing and spending time with them. Max also had a passion for the outdoors and fishing. He would watch the weather channel daily to know when the best time to go fishing was. Then in the fall, you could find Max watching Tennessee Vols Football and watching NASCAR. Max carried a life of love, strength, and hope. His family will remember him for many generations to come.

Max is survived by his son, Lindsey (LeAnne) Cook of Chapel Hill, TN; 4 grandchildren, Henson Cook, Colton Cook, Brayson Cook, Lawson Cook; brothers, Johnny Cook of Jacksboro, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life service at a later date.
