Mr. John “PaPa” Cook, age 87, of Chapel Hill, TN died Sunday, March 22, 2026. Born in Marshall Co., John was a son of the late John Henry Cook and Mabel Aileen Harber Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Cook.

John was retired from AVCO with 40 years of service. He served for 3 years in the Tennessee National Guard. He always looked forward to visiting his grandchildren who he loved so much and going shopping with them. Loving the outdoors, John spent his time mowing the lawn with his dog Doober riding along with him. He enjoyed painting houses and if not working outside he could be found watching football and NASCAR. John will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Bowman Cook; his 2 daughters, Paige (Phillip) Calahan and Scarlett (Phillip) Copeland; 4 grandchildren, Charley and Taylor Copeland, Caitlin (Noah) Jones and Annmarie Calahan; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 11am – 1pm at Lawrence Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 1pm. Burial will be at Swanson Cemetery.
