Mr.  John Kenneth “Kenny” Sweeney

Mr. Kenneth Sweeney, age 65, of Chapel Hill, TN passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones following an extended illness. Kenny was born in Chapel Hill, TN and was a son of the late Frank “Buddy” Sweeney and Ruth Scott Sweeney. Kenny was a member of the Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Kenny was a loving father and devoted husband. He grew up in Chapel Hill and lived there his entire life. He worked for ICP for 20 years until its closure. He then became the office manager at North Medical Clinic until he retired in 2020.

However, his true passion was cattle farming and that is where he spent most of his spare time. Kenny’s other passion was watching Alabama football and he never missed a game. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joy Wiles Sweeney.

Kenny is survived by his son, John (Ryan) Sweeney; his partner, Carrie Wentzel; 4 brothers, Ricky (Beth) Sweeney, Randy (Sheila) Sweeney, Jerry (Connie) Sweeney and Bobby (Teresa) Sweeney; brother-in-law, Robbie Franklin; nieces, Robin (Reid) Beebe, Wendy (Adam) Kuhn, Kelly (John) Tate, Jill Sweeney, Lauren (Craig) Calloway,
Brittany (Kendall) Knight, Megan (Coy) Shultz and Amanda (Jarred) Robinson; nephews, Ed (Missy) Sweeney and Ryan (Vanessa) Sweeney.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 at Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6981 Arno Allisona Rd. College Grove, TN  37046 or to www.als.org to further ALS research.
