Marie Darnell

Mrs. Marie Darnell, age 82, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Friday evening, October 22, 2021 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Mrs. Darnell was born in Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Jesse Wayne and Beatrice Lankford Lentz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hershel Darnell, who died in 2010; a son, Jammie Darnell and a brother, Jerry Wayne Lentz.

Mrs. Marie was a member of Holts Corner Baptist Church, a homemaker, and had retired from the State of Tennessee where she had worked in the clerical office at the Tennessee State Fire Academy near Shelbyville and formerly at Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Darnell is survived by her sons, Charles H. “Chuck” (Nancy) Darnell, Eagleville, TN, Joe (Jan) Darnell, Chapel Hill, TN, Jeff (Jan) Darnell, Chapel Hill, TN, Jimmy (Tasha) Darnell, Chapel Hill, TN; daughter-in-law, Julie Darnell, Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Judy (Ray) Armstrong, Shelbyville, TN; eleven grandchildren, Angie (Jay) Jackson, Chris (Rachel) Darnell, Jeremy Darnell, Leslie Darnell, Jesse Darnell, Ashley (Jeramey) Hedrick, Neyland (Anna Grace) Darnell, Brooke (Alex) Birdsong, Justin (Taylor) Darnell, Kaitlyn Darnell, Allison Darnell; nine great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in Hopper Cemetery near Chapel Hill.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
