Reda Polk

Reda Mai Garland Polk, age 84, was born October 8, 1938 in Franklin, TN, and was the daughter of the late James O. and Edith Kathleen Johnson Garland. Reda was very involved and loved spending time at the Chapel Hill Community Center.

Reda is survived by her son, Ronald (Nell) C Polk of Chapel Hill; daughter, Priscilla (Mark) Polk Hood, Chapel Hill, TN; stepchildren, Diane Polk Carter and Sheila Polk Holt; grandchildren, Steven E Hood, Joseph A Hood and Reda Marie Polk; great grandchildren, Holly, Harrison, Hadley, Harmony and Emersyn Hood; sisters, Zeneith Garland Cole and Cornelia Garland Jefferson; brothers, Dewey and Daniel Garland; sister in-law, Doris Polk Kennemer and numerous step grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Reda was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Walter Bernard Polk; sister, Oneda Garland Covington and brother, Bobby Morgan Garland and first husband, Emery Howard “Jocko” Polk; step children, Clayton B. Polk and John N. Polk.

Family members will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Timothy Holton officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Johnson Hollow Cemetery in the Burwood Community.

Tim Jefferson, Gregg Garland, Michael Garland, Stacey Polk, Jason Carter and Jimmy Cole will serve as pallbearers.

The family of Mrs. Polk would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Terri W. Jerkins and the staff at Williamson Medical Center for the generous care their mother received. For those who wish, Memorial Donations, in memory of Reda Mai Garland Polk, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
