Mr. Robert Edward “Ed” Holton, age 75, of Unionville, Tennessee, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Shelbyville, Tennessee.  Mr. Holton was born in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Robert Lee and Mary Ella Gentry Holton.  He retired after 24 years of service with Uniroyal, Inc. of Shelbyville and later, retired again with 17 years of service in the maintenance department at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.  Mr. Holton was a member of Rover Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.  In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Holton, Ella Grayson, Myrtle Rainey and Annie Mai Holton and brothers, John L. Holton and Herbert Holton.

Mr. Holton is survived by his wife, Nancy Holton, Unionville, TN; two sons, Mike Holton, Unionville, TN, Mark (Janice) Holton, Shelbyville, TN; two grandchildren, Zach Holton and Abby Holton, both of Shelbyville, TN; sisters, Gladys Brown, Unionville, TN, Katherine Victory, Christine (Clifford) Peach, Faye Jones, all of Shelbyville, TN; brothers, Milton Holton, Shelbyville, TN, Thomas (Barbara) Holton, Murfreesboro, TN.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Grooms officiating.  Burial will follow in Cothran Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
