Sarah Jan
Guest
April 22, 1951 – April 14, 2026
Simpson Cemetery
Starts at 11:00 am (Central time)
Sarah “Jan “Daughtrey Guest left this world on Tuesday, April 14. She was surrounded by love, her family and her beloved dog, Jerry, and her mostly nice cat, Milo.
Jan was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Ora and O. Daughtrey, her beloved brothers, Arville Daughtrey, Don Daughtrey, Larry Daughtrey, her youngest daughter, Sarah Dawn Strasser and her dogs Ben, Heidi, Merry, Pippin, Buddy and Willie (hopefully).
Jan loved bigger than most. Whether it was her family, her friends or her “bonus” children, she seemed to still have so much more of herself to give. This love carried over to her passion for animals of all kinds. Any dog, cat, donkey or horse that showed up out of nowhere ended up finding a new home with her. She also had a bird, Andy, that she raised with a bottle and kept alive for 37 years. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention her fierce love for her grand dogs, grand cats, grand guinea pigs and grand rabbits.
She also had a passion for helping others. After focusing on raising her children and living the life of an Air Force Wife, she returned to school to gain her RN degree. From there she began her career as a nurse. Her career spanned from pediatrics to hospice to home health care. She loved being a nurse and missed it once she retired. She was always the one you could turn to when any ailment struck.
She is survived by her stubborn husband Bob Guest, her son Matthew Guest (Aimee), her daughter, Robin Guest, the best grandkids on the planet, Micah, Jael, Adam, Charlie, Joshua and Clara, and three generations of nieces and nephews. She is surely crushed that she won’t be on this earth for the wedding of Adam to Anna, whom she already welcomed as part of the family. We are sure she will be dancing above in celebration.
Jan will be honored with a graveside service on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 AM at the Simpson Cemetery at Baptist Church Road, Chapel Hill, TN 37034. All are welcome to join the family at the Guest House in Eagleville, TN afterwards.
Services are in the care of Lawrence Funeral Home 203 S. Horton Pkwy Chapel Hill, TN. 37034. 931-364-2233 www.lawrencefuneral.net
