James Dyer

Mr. James Avery Dyer, age 79, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mr. Dyer was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee and was a son of the late James Newton and Avie Mae Walls Dyer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Perry, and brothers, Phillip Dyer and Carl Dyer.

Mr. Dyer was retired from Genesco, Inc. of Chapel Hill and was a member of Christian Chapel Church. He was also an avid Tennessee Titans Fan and loved watching them play.

Mr. Dyer is survived by his sister, Thelma (Lewis) Griggs, Chapel Hill, TN; brother, Mike (Carolyn) Dyer, Unionville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Family members will receive friends on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Sister Amanda Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
