Mr. James Arthur Daughrity, age 77, of Chapel Hill, TN, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Marshall County, TN and was a son of the late Earl Edward Daughrity and Lizzie Tomlin Daughrity. James was a former employee of L & N Railroad, farmer, a carpenter, real estate agent, and policeman. He was an Army Veteran who served stateside during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family. James was a graduate of Forrest High School Class of 1962. He always enjoyed trail riding with his horses and camping.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy Logue Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN; son, Jeff (Kristi) Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN, daughters, Lori (Jason) Ray of Belfast, TN, and Jessica Coleman of Chapel Hill, TN; six grandchildren, Jordan Ray, Logan Ray, Elizabeth Daughrity, Jonathan Daughrity, Jayden Coleman, Madelynn Coleman and one great grandson, Jackson Walker Ray.
In addition, he is survived by his brothers and sisters, D. Ed (Joy) Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN, Mary Elizabeth Fant of Nashville, TN, Donald (Adell) Daughrity of Lewisburg, TN, Phillip (Betty) Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN, Harold (Patsy) Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN, Linda Jones of Lewisburg, TN, Garry (Brenda) Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN, and Ricky (Debbie) Daughrity of Chapel Hill, TN.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Isaac Bourne, J.D. Schwartz, Paten Pruitt, and Stan Butt officiating. Interment will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.
His nephews, Keith Daughrity, Kevin Daughrity, Brad Fant, Steven Fant, James Daughrity, Tony Daughrity, Randy Daughrity, Jeremy Daughrity, Joseph Daughrity, Ken Daughrity, Jed Jones, and Josh Jones will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the Chapel Hill Coffee Club Members and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to Forrest Alumni Association, Chapel Hill Church of Christ Youth Group, or Chapel Hill Elementary School Library.
